davide disanto is an amazing italian producer born in bari, after multiple releases on excellent labels such as let s play house, politics of dancing or even theory of swing, he delivers us a fabulous 12 inch which borrows as much from the heyday of the purest new-york city 90s deep house as well as the purest techno made in detroit. the 1st track from this ep seems to have come straight from an imaginary collaboration between boo williams & ron trent, the violence of the rhythm is counterbalanced by some airy & ultra deep pads, the aptly named atmosfear. a banger as we rarely hear today. c mon, let me see on a2 sounds like a modern take on the awesome jerzzey boy. on the b side, da love feeling (main mix) & le (4am underground dub) revisits the 90s once again for our greatest pleasure, particularly the latter seems to have come straight out of a lost mix of the great danny tenaglia. and to end this ep in style, davide allows himself the luxury of summoning the spirit of mbg and all the best italian deep house from the early 90s on the superb lungomare (ambient reprise). essential item !

ltd 2021 repress - back in the early 90s dave coker, justin bailey and laurant webb set up a music production studio a stones throw away from the famous cutty sark in greenwich, along with dave deptford pine as one the founders of the aforementioned studio. they called themselves strangeweather, worked on different dance music styles and formed the fabulously awesome, but slightly ill fated band wubble u. around the same time justin struck up a friendship with nathan coles, a then madly enthusiastic young dj who was starting to make a name for himself on the thriving underground house scene. nathan introduced justin to terry francis and the rest of the crew and collectively the formed housey doings. they released two records on the bush subsidiary imprint green grass and as if by magic tech house was officially born. fast forward a couple of years and the boys replaced the s with a �z and struck out on their own. this is a re-release of the first record on the label they named after the now legendary club night wiggle. two sides of proper, uk style tech house - a sound thats been copied, plagiarized and endlessly imitated. but never bettered

a new adepth audio record featuring canadian rennie foster, including a remix of nomadico (dj dex/underground resistance). the title track witch hazel is a 9 minute long track with no breakdown and a minimal approach to arrangement, with organic elements cycling in and out subtly rather than obviously beginning and ending. a rolling half time, tribal groove drives the power of the track with a haunting vocal sample and layers of percussion creating a heady, polyrhythmic hypnosis on the dance floor. not since rennie s well known devil s water has he presented such an overtly occult offering as this extremely finely crafted ep, and this song represents the initial seduction of the record to the listener very effectively. the second track, navigator, is a drum machine driven workout, again with a polyrhythmic and tribal vibe, this time drenched in a rich, holographic pad that morphs and moves in unexpected ways. minimalistic in presentation, this track is bass heavy and functional for the dj, yet artistic and emotional. the nomadico remix by dj dex of underground resistance takes the elements of witch hazel and re-constructs them in a futuristic style with a more driving kick and molten detroit attitude. a heavier techno approach to the piece, but still intact is the melancholic atmosphere of the original and siren song of the vocal sample. this mix includes a dramatic breakdown and unique arrangement familiar to fans of nomadico s awesome yaxteq label. the last track on the ep is called crossing the boundary is possibly the only track in this style to sample distorted vocals usually associated with black metal, making this a very unique, perhaps polarizing, experiment in sound. evocative of the desolation of deep space and suggestive of sonic dark matter. this track combines rennie s singular approach to dub techno with ambient and drone music and the result is like nothing else currently in existence.

* this ep was first released in 2006 and is the first stonedwave release. it is a white seven inch, containing of two tracks by robert chudoba aka kungfoo. a. undead and real (kungfoo s ectoplasma remix) is the result of a remix context which was organized at the erutufon website using a samplepack by chip tronic. the theme is undead and real and describes the atmosphere in a hp lovecraft short novel where an undead person is roaming around at night.. kungfoo processes the samples of the track which was created by chip tronic with own built reaktor ensembles and one of the first ableton live versions. the result is a funky wonky electro tune with a lots of bleeps, modulations and which is still a lot of fun to listen to. timeless funk! b. rock me is a wonderful science fiction like glitch techno track with very elaborated breaks and an awesome groove. like a whirl of satin.
